Jazzy soul in Harmony

Do you really enjoy singing together and have you always wanted to practice a swinging repertoire? Then join this course by Nicoline who, after years of guiding choirs and groups, is really looking forward to going back to her jazz background together with a group of enthusiasts this summer!

In this week you will work with pieces by, among others, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield, Pointer Sisters. In the 1960s and 1970s there was a vibrant current of soul-related singers and bands. Based on jazz and gospel, the Soul movement got off to a flying start.
Often these singers had already been tried and tested in the church. Where harmony singing and groove were deeply ingrained.

What will we be doing?
This week you and the others will mainly focus on singing together and perfecting your timing. The days will start with a warming up and jazz improvisation exercises. You must have already studied the pieces in advance and a vote will be distributed. You will work towards a small performance at the end of the week. In short, a week of next-level harmony, solo singing and improvisation!
